Fort Lauderdale has some amazing bars. There is a perfect watering hole for everyone who’s thirsty and in search of an adult beverage. Here are some of my favorite spots that you might want to visit during your stay.
1) If you’re a beer connoisseur … Head over to Funky Buddha. This is one of the most well-known and popular breweries in South Florida. Funky Buddha is all about crafting unique libations. Choose from favorites like Floridian, a German-style wheat beer or No Crusts, a peanut butter and jelly brown ale. If you’re in the mood for something really unique, try the award-winning Maple Bacon Coffee Porter.
2) If you’re feeling nostalgic … Go to the oldest beach bar in town. The Elbo Room has been a Fort Lauderdale staple since the 1930s. And it was featured in the 1960s movie Where the Boys Are, the film that put Fort Lauderdale on the spring break map. The Elbo Room is a quintessential dive bar. Go for an ice-cold beer during the day. Sit outside and admire the ocean views. This is also a great spot for people watching and to see some luxury vehicles cruising down A1A.
3) If you want to sip some wine … I recommend popping your cork at Vinos on Las Olas Boulevard. This is a charming bar with a nice wine list – as well as tasty charcuterie and flatbreads. The espresso martinis are another popular option. It’s good for a romantic evening or even a girls’ night out. Bonus! They sometimes have live entertainment outside on the patio.
4) If you’re a craft cocktail snob … Stop into No Man’s Land. A “Refuge from the Ordinary,” this speakeasy-style bar features exquisitely crafted cocktails. Try A Proper Buzz with gin, passion fruit, lemon, honey and dehydrated lemon. Or the Forbidden Cin, a tempting concoction of rum, black rice syrup, lemon juice and lemon cup flambeau.
5) If you like to drink dangerously … Throw axes with your friends while you enjoy a cocktail. Chops and Hops is a one-of-a-kind bar that pairs the ultra-fun activity of axe throwing with great cocktails and music. And don’t worry. Your party will be guided by a resident Axpert who will teach you the basics and lead the games. Be sure to make a reservation if you want to throw axes. But you can always just swing by for a drink and take in the action.
